BMCC administration claims these cuts will not adversely affect students.
Given the size of BMCC, the student to full time faculty ratio places us as the 8th in the state (well within the middling range). If these cuts go through, BMCC’s student ratio will shift from 75 students per full time advisor to 104 students per faculty. The second highest in the state (and that’s not a good thing).
On the right: Reviewing the proposed course schedule for Fall, and those courses taught by the faculty identified (10 full time and 19 part time) in these budget cuts, over 200 courses will be canceled due to lack of staff. This will leave close to 2000 students underserved and without access to the courses they want and need.
